Kids say the darndest things.....

So as you all are probably aware of....I rarely spend money on myself. Probably once every 6 months I will pick up a new shirt or something, but other than that nothing else is really ever purchased. I refuse to even go and get my hair cut by a professional. Dan is a good sport and trims (sometimes does more than trim) my hair for me. I also don't get it highlighted or colored professionally anymore either. The last time I had my hair professionally done was the day before I found out I was pregnant with Sadie. (maybe that is why she is so crazy,,,they say you shouldn't dye your hair when you are pregnant). Anyways, it cost me over $150.00 and holy cow that is way too much money to waste on me! So, Dan again, is a good sport and will highlight my hair too. Well a couple of months back, Dan was highlighting my hair and I am pretty sure he was getting sick of doing it so he just put all the dye on all over the place leaving me with at least 4 different hair colors. I had some blonde spots, a couple of white streaks, and not to mention that he didn't get down to my roots, so I think you get the picture. Then about a week later we tried to fix it, and I must say, it looked a little better. Well, lately our friend Julie (the one who is going to teach about families but doesn't have one!-that's for you Julie) has been teasing me about my hair and telling me to color it. I wanted to wait a while until.....My precious Molly came up with the best line. We were at Gymboree yesterday evening (Dan, me, the three crazy kids, and Julie) and I was bending down to try some ugly shoes on Molly she wanted to get. As my head is bent down looking at Molly's shoes and Molly is holding onto my head to keep her balance, She says, "Mommy, what's that crack in your head for?" Of course Julie happened to hear her comment and we both burst out laughing. By my crack she was referring to my very dark roots showing next to my bleach blonde hair. At that moment, I knew I had to do something about it. I have to leave it to my 2 year old to tell me how it is. So, I wanted to fix my crack. Well, you would think I would make an appointment and get my hair done by someone who knows what they are doing. Are you kidding? I refuse to pay that much so we headed of to the new Walmart by our house. I made Julie come with to help pick out a color and then also convinced her to pick out some highlights for her hair. We picked out our goods and headed home to play beauty shop. Well, Julie started by coloring my hair one solid color and while my hair was "setting" I highlighted her hair. Well, my hair is a little bit darker now and my roots are still a little visible but Molly hasn't mentioned a crack yet. I think Julie got the good end of the deal. I of course did an awesome job on her hair and wow it looks good. So I think I will stick with my color for at least a few weeks and see what I can change later. I would say things worked out pretty well. I only spent $7.00 on a new color compared to $75.00-$100+ I would have spent going somewhere to get it done. If any of you need your hair colored and highlighted, Julie and I are thinking of starting a new traveling salon and would be more than happy to come use our skills on your hair. We promise, we won't even charge you that much. Dan is also willing to come along and cut and trim hair. What more could you ask for?
