Back to Life....Back to Reality...
I apologize that I have not blogged in some time...but I have been a little busy and without a computer these past two weeks. You see, I stayed at my sister's home in Belgium for two weeks, while they vacationed in Hawaii. Somehow this still doesn't seem right. Dawn and Hugh go to Hawaii for two weeks with no kids, and I babysit for their kids, plus my own and try to homeschool (somewhat). So that make a total of seven kids, (eight if you include Dan when he came to "visit" us). All four of their kids are involved in an activity. Last Saturday was a busy day. Molly had Ballet class in Brookfield and all of Dawn's kids had games in Cedar Grove. Oma took Molly to Ballet class, then shopping, then out for lunch, and then to a movie. That was one child taken care of. James stayed at a friend's house Friday night and got a ride with his friend to his 8:00am soccer game. We (Dan, Me, Sadie, and Abbie) dropped Sophie off at her soccer game, then we headed over to watch Michael play football. We left his game early so we could catch the tail end of Sophia's soccer game. However, when we went to the field that We had dropped her off at....she wasn't there playing. Her game was at a different field and another mom had so kindly noticed that Sophia was in the wrong place and took her to the right field. I got to see Sophia play (Dan drove around with Abbie and Sadie because it was quite windy out). I stood at Sophia's game for about 5 minutes and was about to go tell the coach to put her in so I could see her play. She did well....they won their first game. After her game we headed back to the football field to watch Christian's game. He told us it started at 11:00 but it really started at noon. Michaels ended up winning his game (all thanks to him! or so he says) and he opted to stay and "watch" the other games. (however, when I left him, he was sitting at a table with another guy and a few girls...Meraiyah was the girl that caught his eye!) We drove back to the O'Donnell's. Dan stayed back with the girls and I drove back to watch Christian's game. As I sat as his game by myself on the bleachers, I realized that I had no idea which black shirt of the 40 or so that I saw was Christian. So I waved Michael down, who was trying to impress the coaches by "helping" out on the sidelines, and he told my Christian was number 34. So I found Christian standing on the sidelines, just waiting to go in. Again, I had to hold back from going to the coach and asking them to put him in so I could see him play. Well, he did go in and did some great tackles. He won his game too. That is just a touch of what life was like....
However, now I am back home and we are a regular Family again! The kids slept in their own beds (except for Molly who was sleeping on the couch at 2 am when I came out with Abbie to nurse her). The bags are unpacked, the laundry is done, and I have some sense of being normal again. I do find myself missing all the kids and even called them last night to make sure the dinner I had prepared for them before I left was enough and it was good.
I have some great pictures of the pumpkin farm that we went to up in Plymouth and will post them a little later. Right now, though, I have to go give the kids a bath. It has been some time now since the last one. Plus our house is freezing, so maybe a bath will warm us all up!
A special thank you to Mom (Oma) for helping me a bit, The Fligge's for coming over a couple of times, to the Axtman's and Nana Luci for going to the Pumpkin farm with us...it was nice to talk with other adults, to Brian for the great hug, to Dawn's kids for putting up with me for the two weeks, and mostly to Dan for making the special trips up to visit us and for allowing me to go and help out. (and for bringing X Box so I could play Sonic!)
I will post some pics later today!
